👨⚕️ A recognized practice: colonic water irrigation (or evacuant enema) may be indicated in cases of chronic or occasional constipation in adults, discomfort, or sluggish bowels, as well as for the elimination of fecal impaction. The enema may also be prescribed in preparation for an endoscopic or radiological examination, or before surgery.

Advice on using the Enema Bag
1- Connect the hose to the bag and screw the nozzle onto the hose, ensuring the valve is in the closed position.
2- Fill the bag with lukewarm water (about 37°C, which is body temperature) and hang it up high (the higher it is, the stronger the pressure will be).
3- Open the valve and let the water flow to clear any air from inside the hose, then close the valve.
4- Lubricate the nozzle with vegetable oil, petroleum jelly, or a lubricant gel.
5- Lie down in your bathtub on your side or on your back and pull your knees towards your chest. If you do not have a bathtub, place a towel on the floor.
6- Insert the lubricated probe into the anus and open the valve. The water enters the rectum and will soften and detach the fecal matter from the intestinal walls. You will observe the water level in the bag decreasing.
7- Let the water flow into the colon as much as is tolerable, then close the valve. You can remain lying down while breathing calmly, or practice light massages on your lower abdomen.
8- When you feel the urge to evacuate, stand up slowly and head to the toilet without delay.
Maintenance advice: After each use, separate the parts (nozzle and reservoir) and wash them with soapy water or an antiseptic solution. Rinse and let dry. Store in a cool, dry place, away from light.
